Abstract

Phoebe Arbon investigated the detection of viruses in giant black tiger prawns. She found that endemic viruses were prevalent across prawn farms of Northern Australia and applied novel methodologies to enable more sensitive and cost-effective virus surveillance. Australian farmers are using her work to develop stronger biosecurity in prawn aquaculture.
