Abstract

Cassandra Thompson investigated changes to Chaetodon butterflyfish socially with variations in coral cover. She found that butterflyfish change sociality in response to varying coral cover, which may affect survival and population viability. Coral reef fishes responses to changing coral availability may initially be subtle, but will affect their distribution and abundance.
