Abstract

Gerry Giliant Salamena investigated flushing processes in a rare, tropical shallow-silled fjord of Ambon Bay, Indonesia, significantly different climatologically from most-studied high-latitude fjords. He found some similarities in the mechanisms and some differences in timescale and magnitudes of flushing between Ambon Bay fjord and high-latitude fjords. He additionally found that knowledge of flushing in Ambon Bay fjord is of interest to water quality management regarding marine pollution in the system.
