Abstract

In this chapter we outline our thoughts regarding the rationale for this collection of works, how that thinking changed over time, and how a reader might reflect on the content of the chapters. There is an historical element to our reasoning and we have recast how we might consider issues in science education that were previously cast as dilemmas. Our aim is to assist readers of this book to see some of the issues facing science education as challenges that will likely persist and to suggest that a problem-coping approach might be best suited to how such issues are approached.
