Abstract

Rebecca Diggins studied captive-raised hawksbill turtle welfare to infer potential post-release survivability. She found that the turtles retained innate behaviours and physiological responses key to survival after 2 years under human care. Her recommendations can be adapted by conservation organisations to improve welfare and release outcomes of other captive-raised turtles.
