Abstract

A framework is available for use in workshops, seminars and other publications to support discussion and professional development of researchers in relation to Collaboration. The framework supports mapping and evaluation of current network, planning for future networks and exploration of collaborative practices.

Research Statement

Research Background The collaborative research culture framework has evolved through several publications and engagements with researchers in workshops and seminar. Version 5 is expected to appear in three works that will be published in the coming 12 months. Enhancements on the previous version is the introduction of visible researchers as active agents demonstrating collaborative capacity through the practices of distributed leadership and informed research.
Research Contribution The contribution of the framework is to the scholarly exploration of collaborative practices and to the practice of collaboration.
Research Significance The work conceives of sustainable collaborative cultures as the result of establishing trust and respect between collaborators, enabling and engaging in a range of formal and informal networks, and creating inclusive, innovative and inspiring outcomes from collaboration. The success of collaboration requires the demonstration of collaborative capacity (i.e., distribute leadership and informed research) by research collaborators who apply their capacity through networks, over dedicate time and within virtual or actual spaces.
