Abstract

Sam Barta tested an original, collaborative, interactive and episodic role play process for literacy instruction. The study found the process to be effective in motivating students and engaging them emotionally, cognitively, and behaviorally. The autonomy and collaboration inherent in the process informs effective teaching of literacy as a social practice.
