Abstract
The genomic DNA of Leptospira interrogans Canicola strain Kito was used as a template for amplification of the target sequences and vaccinogen production. Female Golden Syrian hamsters with 4 5 weeks of age were immunized according to previously described protocols: 80/40 μg (first/second immunization) or 80/40/40 μg (first/second/third immunization) for subunit vaccines and 100/100 mg for plasmid vectors. Each experimental group included 6 to 8 animals. Homologous challenge was tested by strain Kito and heterologous challenge by L. interrogans serovar Copenhageni strain Fiocruz L1-130.
