Abstract
Shill bidding is where spurious bids are introduced into an auction on the seller’s behalf with the intent to artificially stimulate the price. The bogus bidders that enter the fraudulent bids are referred to as shills. Shilling is a problem as it forces legitimate bidders to pay more for an item.
