Abstract

Amy McGuire investigated entomopathogenic fungi to control Tephritid fruit flies. Metarhizium guizhouense and Metarhizium lepidiotae were identified as effective biological control agents of the Queensland fruit fly, Bactrocera tryoni. Fungal pathogenicity was enhanced through directed selection, and a mathematical model employed to optimise attract-and-infect pest control strategies.
