Abstract

Seneth Jayakodi investigated the effect of soil arching on stress developments within mine stopes, drives and barricades. He developed analytical and numerical models to estimate the backfill stresses and validated them with the laboratory model tests. The dimensionless plots he developed can be used for stress determination in backfilled stopes and barricades of any dimensions.
