Abstract

The ErgoWELL program presents a systematic, participatory ergonomics and injury prevention strategy implemented within a large industrial workforce in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Grounded in human factors and ergonomics principles, the program integrates population health management, workplace and workforce design, and organizational safety culture to address musculoskeletal injury risk and productivity loss. The methodology comprises four phases: workforce surveys and awareness workshops, observational walkthroughs and risk assessment, individual ergonomic evaluations supported by quantitative assessment tools, and post-intervention evaluation of outcomes. Results from a one‑year follow‑up demonstrated significant reductions in work-related musculoskeletal injuries and absenteeism, accompanied by a marked increase in preventive health behaviours and self‑accountability across participating departments. The case study highlights the effectiveness of embedding human‑centred design and continuous improvement processes into organizational systems to achieve sustainable health, safety, and productivity outcomes.
