Abstract

Naomi Clark-Shen studied blackspot sharks (Carcharhinus sealei) and species in the bluespotted maskray complex (Neotrygon spp.). She found that both have relatively slow lifehistories, the maskrays have more specialised diets than the sharks, and genetic analysis indicated potential hybridisation of maskrays and possibly a distinct species, with implications for conservation.
