Abstract
VIVA Mutual is an Australian social enterprise that provides health services to clients of the National Disabilities Insurance Scheme (NDIS) through in-home health care provision. VIVA Mutual has adapted a Buurtzorg model founded in 2006 in the Netherlands ensuring integrated and holistic client outcomes are organised through empowered work models. The model is built on self-managed teams and flat organisational structure with minimal back-office support. A case study mixed methods research design has been employed to explore the delivery and adaption of the Buurtzorg model in providing a quality in-home health services for disability clients in an Australian context and to examine the role of self-managed teams in that service provision.
