Abstract

This iconography explores the variability and ranges of members of the Ministrombus and introduces three new species bringing the total to six in the genus. Two of these species are alluded to in previous works but were never described. M. athenius is recircumscribed and the type locality is shifted to reflect this change in taxonomic position. This paper examined 430 specimens, and used morphology and distribution patterns to delineate species. There is considerable variability in the form of each species; however, within each species complex, there are distinctive characteristics that enable taxonomic resolution. This paper adds to the growing understanding of diversity within Neostromboidae, and highlights the revisions of what are currently considered stable taxa increasing our understanding of global biodiversity.
