Abstract

[Extract] This report presents the results of the CU Project’s baseline seagrass assessments conducted in September/October 2019 and compares the results with the April/May 2019 baseline survey and other annual surveys conducted as part of the long term seagrass monitoring program. The objectives of the survey were to:

- Survey seagrass at the whole of port scale in the seagrass peak season to determine seagrass distribution, species composition and density

- Assess the changes in seagrass distribution, species composition and density in relation to previous surveys

- Assess the impact the February 2019 Townsville floods had on seagrass

- Incorporate results into the Townsville seagrass Geographic Information System (GIS) database.
