Abstract

Maruao, the wings of infinity – Bilingual poems and essays by Flora Aurima Devatine and essays on her work (Maruao, the Wings of Infinity) constitutes the first collection of poems and essays in English and French by Flora Aurima Devatine as well as the first collection of articles on her masterful work (dir. Estelle Castro-Koshy). Founding and unpublished poems by this great contemporary Tahitian poet and thinker are accompanied by innovative analyses, tributes and illustrations of her work. Twenty-eight researchers, teachers, translators, writers, artists, and the writer’s grandchildren highlight the genius and richness of her work. Articles offer for the first time studies of his poems in Tahitian, the influence of Hispanic writers on his poetry, and the way in which his poems resonate with Deaf culture.
