Abstract
With the introduction of advanced dental materials and techniques, treatment options to restore form and function of the dentition have exponentially expanded over the last two decades. Particularly, dental implants have become one of the widely used treatment options to replace missing teeth mainly due their predictable and high success rate. This can be attributed to the increasing use of virtual reality based treatment planning software that have become a mainstay in dental implant therapy. This chapter provides an overview of the digital workflow utilised in dental implantology. Additionally, this chapter will discuss the role of software-assisted tools in effective digital smile designing, a vital component of aesthetic dentistry. Other applications of virtual reality in dental field including patient anxiety management and dental education with expanded range of simulation capabilities will also be discussed in this chapter.
