Abstract
Jenny Cocciardi investigated the potential for adaptation in thermal performance and tolerances, and thermoregulatory behaviour, in native Drosophila species. She found that gradual global warming will affect adaptation, but that heatwaves may be more detrimental than gradual warming. This has important implications for future research and management of heatwave-affected populations.
