Abstract
[Extract] The superfamily Microscaphidioidea Looss, 1900 contains two families, the Microscaphidiidae Looss, 1900 and the Mesometridae Poche, 1926, from the digestive tract of marine and freshwater teleost fishes and chelonians, hosts that are mainly herbivorous. Their significant characters include the absence of a ventral sucker and cirrus-sac, and the presence of a uterine seminal receptacle and a reticular excretory system.
