Abstract
Jennifer Wilmes studied early-stage juvenile crown-of-thorns starfish on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. She found that this life stage occurs frequently in shallow waters of exposed reef environments where coral rubble is abundant, and that variation in early development can greatly influence population dynamics of crown-of-thorns starfish, and their impacts on coral reefs.
