'Li.Bu' is the title of three images entered in the Win Schubert and Ulrich Photographic competition at the Gold Coast City Art Gallery. The competition attracts many professional photographers from around Australia.

Research Statement

Research Background The photography of sacred iconography is often related to large and outstanding examples. In this case the images were taken from a shrine that had been burnt and this lent itself to revealing the vulnerability of the Buddhist icon.
Research Contribution The artist's travel to China was heightened by personal loss and then seeking the way another culture portrayed the absence of loved ones and places. The images are early developments in the artist's PhD to reveal signs of erosion as a point of interest for loss or absence.
Research Significance The vulnerability of the sacred icon and the essence of cultural artefacts as part of culture and visual literacy have been highlighted in this research.
