Abstract

'Throw Sad Things to the Wind' is an artist's book exhibited in Artspace Mackay. The words were spoken to the artist in China and the words are about saying goodbye to sad thought. The idea has been translated into an artist's book.

Research Statement

Research Background The boxed book with unfolding images relates to the statement in the title, 'Throw Sad Things to the Wind.' The unfolding images present a visual passage about grief.
Research Contribution In this book the images and words represent moving on from a sad thought. It encompasses cultural understanding and being away from one's familiar culture.
Research Significance The artist's intention is presented through the juxtaposition of image and text as they relate to experiences during residencies in China. Digital images presented on folded paper takes on some of the attributes of oriental formatting.
