Abstract
This chapter focuses on Australian immigration and multiculturalism as a case study. The specific objectives of this chapter are:
•to examine the role that immigration and multiculturalism play in the construction of the nation-state in Australia;
•to explore the role that policy plays in shaping the lived experiences of immigrants to Australia;
•to review the evidence concerning health outcomes among immigrants in Australia
•to analyse the interrelationship between public policy, integration and health outcomes of immigrants and reflect on the implications for policy and program development in Australia.
