Abstract

Using class notes as a point of reference, I will discuss my efforts to monitor a potential bullying situation over the course of several class meetings with one group of students. The interactions between three students central to the issue were ambiguous, and even at the end of the course, I was unsure if the students' interactions represented bullying or not. Using quotes from the relevant literature, I compare my own observations and reactions with the experts' recommended course of action, and note where I did well and where I could have improved my performance. I also discuss some of the ambiguities I observed, and talk about some constraints I experienced due to various classroom circumstances.
