Abstract

[Extract] In 2011, the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing began the National TeleHealth Initiative to fund health services via communication technology. This method of health provision was instigated to support access for patients in regional, rural and remote areas of Australia where services can be limited or absent. As a result, telehealth has become a developing and contemporary aspect of clinical practice across a variety of health professions in Australia.
