Abstract

What ethical considerations are encountered when making an interactive auto/biographical documentary based on the true story of an orphaned ten-year-old girl who is also the author's mother? Making The Shoebox, the author discovered that both her familial relationship with the protagonist and its online delivery challenged the subject's informed consent.
