Abstract
Jean Dartnall describes an indexing project for a community organization which has a strong focus on user needs. The project included the development of a thesaurus and of broad subject browsing options. Also discussed are the differences between indexing information about organizations and indexing documents. These differences are a consequence of the facts that organizations change, people with different backgrounds use the index, and organizations may request input into indexing decisions.
