Abstract
Currently there are very few Indigenous principals of remote and regional schoolsl, or Indigenous teachers in senior positions. If leadership succession is not to be disrupted by a leadership crisis, the question emerges as to where the next Indigenous school leaders will come from. This literature review aims to identify leadership succession issues, and the issues that affect educational leaders' professional growth.
