Abstract

A little known catshark endemic to the Caribbean Sea with a restricted range off Honduras, Nicaragua and Colombia. Inhabits the outer continental shelf and upper slope at depths of 190–410 m. Reaches a known maximum size of 35 cm total length, but biology is poorly known. Despite its restricted geographic range, no trawl fisheries are currently known to operate at the depths at which this species occurs. As such, the species is assessed as Least Concern. If demersal trawl fisheries expand into this species’ range in the future, this assessment should be revisited.
