A mentoring model for researching practice in modern child care social work services in Scotland

Abstract:
The paper will share the development and outcomes of an innovative research mentoring programme developed by the Glasgow Centre for the Child and Society and Children Ist; one of Scotland's most influential voluntary organisations.
The paper will focus on the relevance that the programme has for both CPD and service development. The paper will also consider the contribution that this type of initiative can make to the delivery of more effective health and social carte services.
Contribution: Whilst the paper is of relevance to stakeholders engaged with the current Scottish policy agenda the themes which it seeks to address are of relevance to the international community; professionalisation, early career development, care standards and evidence based preactice.
