Abstract

[Extract] Studying time, continuity and change is the special province of history. The chapter considers how historical understandings are produced as bodies of knowledge, and how concepts of time, continuity and change can be used in teaching and learning. The conclusion raises some questions about the place of historical knowledge in social education.
