Abstract

A baculovirs was isolated from the virus-infected shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) collected from a freshwater pond in Suzhou. The size (50nm x375nm) and morphological characteristics (rod) of the purified virion was extremely similar to that of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) by electron microscopic observation. The result of Procambarus clarkii regression test and observation of isolated virus primaily indicated that the materials were shrimp white spot syndrome.
