Abstract

Marina Santana investigated the extent and effects of microplastic contamination on coral reef ecosystems of the Great Barrier Reef. She found that microplastics are present in remote areas of the GBR, the risks of biological uptake rest on microplastic characteristics, and that biological contamination and effects are dose-dependent.
