Abstract
Ward and colleagues (2026) claim to “strengthen” our publication–governance framework, but their critique repeatedly mistakes what our framework outlines, who has enforceable duties under research–integrity systems, and what the Ward and colleagues (2022) retraction example actually demonstrates.
