Abstract
Michelle McElroy investigated the experiences and perceptions of rural nurses caring for pregnant women in the absence of midwives. Employing hermeneutic phenomenology, findings highlighted challenges, including unpreparedness, moral distress, and the complexity of the remote setting. Participants emphasised the need for practical maternity education and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve outcomes.
