Abstract
This case study examines the implementation of advanced human‑machine interface (HMI) innovations to improve safety, well‑being, and performance within a large industrial workforce in the Gulf Cooperation Council region. The chapter describes the development and application of an integrated human factors engineering approach combining wearable sensor technologies, real‑time data analytics, and predictive personal protective equipment. Physiological, biomechanical, and cognitive signals are captured through embedded sensors and processed via distributed data streaming and analytics platforms to enable proactive risk detection and safety intervention. By aligning human‑centred design principles with emerging digital technologies, the case study demonstrates how HMI‑enabled systems can enhance situational awareness, support predictive safety management, and inform organizational decision‑making. The findings highlight the potential of data‑driven human factors solutions to transform occupational health and safety practices in complex, high‑risk industrial environments.
