Abstract
[Extract] Following from the previous special issue of Seminars in Nephrology focused on clinical applications in genetic nephrology, this issue continues to focus on foundational and implementation concepts in genetic nephrology . Engagement with these concepts is critical for both emerging and establish genetic nephrologists alike ( Figure 1 ). Much as this burgeoning subspecialty of kidney medicine has specific applications in individual kidney disease and phenotype areas, it also has unique grounding in broader domains of genomic and precision medicine. In this special issue, these will be further explored and detailed to support realization of the major opportunities that lie in this strongly emerging subspecialty of nephrology while providing pathways to understand its nuance and take part in generation of its future.
