Abstract
[Extract] This topical issue, “Electron and Positron Interactions and Their Applications,” is intended to honor the extensive scientific legacy of Professor Michael Brunger, who passed away quite suddenly and unexpectedly in September 2022. Michael was an enormously active and productive member of the world-wide, low-energy electron and positron collisions community. As experimentalist, he was renowned for his ability to foster wide international collaborations among experimentalists, theorists and modelers in the field. While his primary interest involved the measurement of absolute collision cross sections for the interaction of low-energy (<100 eV) electrons and positrons with atoms and molecules, he also was passionate regarding the application of these measurements in understanding environmental, atmospheric, technological and biological processes that are driven by electron and positron chemistry—often referred to as the broad field of Gaseous Electronics (Positronics).
