Abstract

This chapter offers a systematic discussion about health, safety, and risk assessments associated with nanomaterials during manufacture and further biomedical applications. Nanotechnology is known as the most commercially viable technology of the 21st century for its wide range of uses in different areas (from medicine to electronics). The reason is the large number of applications in everyday life. Nanomaterials are produced globally in large quantities in cosmetics, healthcare, electronics, biotechnology, engineering industry, pharmacology, food, and agriculture. Also, nanomedicines have been applied to the sectors of molecular biology, tissue culture, biomaterials, genetic engineering, and bioimaging sensors. Nanotechnologies have followed healthcare improvements including potentially revolutionary treatments for cancer, critical diseases, and drug improvements with reduction of side effects. With all these descriptions, the extent of the potential impact on human health is still a major concern due to the lack of reliable toxicity data on nanoparticles. The present literature is providing of better understanding on nanobiotechnology principles and its applications in biomedicine have been discussed as well as to their side effects.
