Abstract

[Extract] Emotional distress is a universal response to the trauma of cancer. The prolonged and cumulative exposure to multiple stressors associated with this disease contributes to elevated risk for psychological distress, specifically, symptoms of anxiety and depression, and for the development of clinically significant anxiety and depressive disorders.
