Abstract
[Extract] While there are often calls for participatory planning in tourism, very few tourism planners actually engage in participatory planning and even fewer tourism researchers focus their attention on the processes and outcomes of participatory planning strategies (Dredge & Jamal, 2015; Moscardo, 2019a; Thees et al., 2020). One of the many challenges that tourism research faces is the need to keep abreast of changes in relevant adjacent areas and foundational disciplines.
