Abstract
Reynold Philip studied the potential of peptides, which were engineered by downsizing proteins, against inflammatory diseases (inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), allergic asthma) and human hookworm infection. He identified several lead molecules with either potential in treating allergic asthma or as a candidate for developing a hookworm vaccine. Interestingly, a conserved sequence motif was identified with anti-inflammatory activity that appears to be widespread in nature.
