Abstract

[Extract] In March 2021, the Australian Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, following 23 public hearings and workshops over 99 days, with 641 witnesses and over 10,000 public submissions, published their final report with 148 recommendations. These largely encompassed governance including legislation and monitoring, financing, health workforce issues including qualifications and education, and research and innovation. Dementia was a focus of 10 recommendations although new dementia initiatives from the Federal Government to date cover 40 recommendations.
