Abstract
The usage of 3D printing (3DP) technologies in the fabrication of ceramic components has significantly increased due to its quick turnaround time from design to manufacturing and its ability to produce highly complex components with ease. While there are a number of 3DP processes available, based on the nature of the ceramic feedstock, they can be classified into three types: (1) slurry-based (2) powder-based, and (3) bulk solid material. This chapter discusses the feedstock requirements, process controls, quality control techniques and energy consumption. A brief comparison between these individual technologies will provide a guideline for technology selection. Finally, current applications are discussed and highlighted some areas of future potential.
