Abstract

This paper focuses on the design aspects of a renewable energy-base power system to supply reliable electric power for remote applications. Solar photovoltaic array and wind turbines supported by energy storage are the main components in this system. The system is to cover the power demand of a small community with residential appliances including a reverse osmosis (RO) fresh water producing unit. This paper presents the results of a computer simulation program developed to optimize the components size and system’s performance.
