Abstract

[Extract] This special issue of Australian Journal of Chemistry is dedicated to the stellar career of Professor Glen Deacon from Monash University. Glen Berenger Deacon was born in Adelaide on Thursday, 7 May 1936. He grew up in Hawthorn, an inner city suburb of Adelaide, and attended Westbourne Park Primary and Unley High Schools.

Research Statement

Research Background	This paper was a dedication to Professor Deacon's lifetime contributions to chemistry.
Research Contribution	My contribution was 90% of the article. Professor Koutsantonis edited the final draft
Research Significance	Professor Deacon has contributed over 65 years to rare earth chemistry and this paper was the dedication to a special issue we edited for Australian Journal of Chemistry
