Abstract
Earlier this year Ward et al. (2022) published a desktop study critiquing our fieldwork findings undertaken in partnership with the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation demonstrating underwater cultural heritage places across Murujuga in northwest Western Australia. In our response we comprehensively refute the critique, drawing attention to wider ethical concerns about the conduct of research and its impact on Indigenous community aspirations to manage Sea Country estates.
