Abstract

[Extract] Collyriclids are distinguished from other members of the Gorgoderoidea Looss, 1899 by the habitat of the adults, i.e. cysts in the skin or intestinal wall of birds and mammals. The two genera included in this family, Collyriclum Kossack, 1911 and Collyricloides Vaucher, 1969, are also distinctive in the possession of an extraordinarily long Laurer's canal. However, there are some striking differences between these genera, including the presence or absence of a ventral sucker and the excretory pore opening midventrally or terminally. Despite this, the similarities between them, their tissue-dwelling habit, body-shape and size and general arrangement of the internal organs, are such that their inclusion in the same family has never been questioned.
