Abstract

[Extract] Fascination with the past is a human interest shared by many. Using museum collections and artefacts found in archaeological contexts, the exhibition Connections Across the Coral Sea brings to audiences the themes of cultural connections and interactions, movement of objects and ideas, and the bridges, barriers and borders of the Coral Sea, enacted through Torres Strait, New Guinea and the northeastern coast of Queensland. The exhibition focuses on significant current research revealing the first evidence for broad voyaging and interaction across the Coral Sea over the past 3,000 years.
